On September 5 Maksim Filatov made his stage debut in the role of Karl, Ill's son in Friedrich Dürrenmatt’s «The Visit of the Old Lady». It was an urgent replacement, and responsibility was huge, but Maksim did his best.

After the performance we asked Maksim to share his impressions: «Before the performance I was not worried - I knew that I was surrounded by reliable partners, great artists: Vasiliy Bochkaryov, Vladimir Nosik, Alexander Klyukvin, Viktor Nizovoy, Viktor Bunakov, Zinaida Andreeva, Lyudmila Titova. I knew that they would support me, help me, and, if necessary, watch my back.It was, in my opinion, a truly fine performance, in a sense that I was playing only for my partners and with my partners. I think that's why everything went smoothly, and I met all the challenges.»

Together with the new season we are opening an exbition named «Captains of the Maly Theatre» located in the upper foyer of the theatre. The exhibition is dedicated to pioneers of the theatre's company.

On August 29 People's Artist of Russia Sergey Sergeevich Eremeev turns 75! On this festive day we would like to wish him happiness, continued good health and goodwill in the coming years.

On this special day we would like to share with you the video of «The Storm» by Alexander Ostrovsky staged by People's Artist of the USSR Boris Babochkin, in which Sergey Eremeev performed the role of Tikhon.

The Maly Theatre's company has gathered today in a historical building to launch the new 263rd season. The reunion after summer vacations is always a very exciting event. The Artistic Director of the Maly Theatre Yuri Solomin congratulated the actors.

«We are having a full house today. And I'm happy. Today we have just as many theatre employees as spectators on a regular theatre night. This is very nice, because this is our home», - said the Artistic Director of the Maly Theatre People's Artist of the USSR Yuri Solomin.

Traditionally, the theatre will start its new season with «Woe from Wit» directed by Sergey Zhenovach, in which Yuri Solomin plays the role of Famusov.

Rehearsals will begin in September. Yuri Solomin will work on the play «Only Silence Is Left» based on the play «Make Way for Tomorrow» by American playwright Viña Delmar, Vladimir Beylis will stage the drama «Before Sunset» by Gerhart Hauptmann. Alexander Ostrovsky's comedy «Handsome Man» will be directed by Vasiliy Fyodorov, and the drama by Svyatoslav Rybas «Tsar. The coup d'Etat» will be staged by Elena Olenina.

On August 10 Sergey Sobyanin, Moscow Mayor,sincerely congratulated all those who are making a worthy contribution to development of the country’s construction industry with a professional holiday – Construction Workers Day. He also awarded the winners of the city contest «The best implemented project in the field of construction». 36 projects were elected by a professional competition commission and open vote of the citizens.

This year the city's competition commission established a special prize «Project of year». And the award went to «nature-landscape Park «Zaryadye». In addition, following a public citywide vote, the Park was nominated in the category «The best implemented project of construction of cultural and educational purpose.»

In the nomination «The best implemented project of restoring and adapting the cultural heritage properties for modern use», the award was presented for the reconstruction of the historical building of the Maly Theatre (project developer - Zarubezhproekt LLC), the reconstruction of the Tatishchev estate (general contractor - Architects of the North-West) and a multifunctional complex «Theater House» on Povarskaya Street (customer - PJSC "Gals-Development").

People's Artist of Russia Alexander Klukvin expressed gratitude on behalf of the theatre to the architects and the city authorities for the reconstruction of the historical stage of the Maly Theatre.

July 15 marks the 165th anniversary of the birth of the great Russian actress Maria Nikolaevna Ermolova (1853-1928). In September the Maly Theatre will dedicate two performances in memory of this legendary actress: «Talents and admirers» by Alexander Ostrovsky (September 14) and «The Last Sacrifice» by Alexander Ostrovsky (September 21).

Today, we are sharing with you two unique recordings.

The first one is the monologue of Maria Stuart from t F. Schiller's tragedy «Maria Stuart». The recordings are more than 100 years old, but you can feel Ermolova's compelling and genuine temperament and the power of her talent, through time.

And the second one is a recording of the evening held on June 22, 2016 in the A.I. Sumbatov-Yuzhin''s memorial apartment, which was devoted to the relationship between Maria Ermolova and Glikeriya Fedotova.

On June 30, the Maly Theatre finishes its 262nd season with "The Visit of the Old Lady" by Friedrich Dürrenmatt. This year teemed with numerous events. 565 performances were shown on three theatre stages, we released seven new productuons (including four on the Main Stage), held another edition of the Ostrovsky Festival, launched a themed train in the Moscow metro and opened the exhibition "Captains of the Maly Theatre" on Vystavochnaya metro station, started giving tours around the historical building, and held several events in the memorial apartment of A.I. Sumbatov-Yuzhin.

The Maly Theatre's company went on tour to Kazan, Yaroslavl, Kostroma and Yekaterinburg.

We want to remind you that on July 25 and August 29 - we kindly invite you to attend the excursion "M. N.ERMOLOVA AND A.YUZHIN. MOSCOW ADDRESSES OF THE GREAT ACTORS ", which will be held by the head of the memorial apartment of A.I.Sumbbatov-Yuzhin Vera Tarasova.

On August 28, the theatre's company is reassembling, and on September 2 we are reopening the doors of the theatre to the audiences.

On June 6 a special event dedicated to the birthday of Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin was held in A.I.Sumbatov-Yuzhin's Memorial Apartment - a show «The Tale of the Dead Princess and the Seven Knights» that was performed by the Maly Theatre's actress Varvara Andreeva.

In addition, Varvara read «A Fairy's Fairy Tales» by Konstantin Balmont, and the soloist of the Maly Theatre Orchestra Mikhail Ivanov performed several pieces on the guitar.
