Boris Vladimirovich Klyuev, People's Artist of Russia, was born on July 13, 1944 in Moscow. In 1969, after graduating from Mikhail Shchepkin Higher Theatre School (the course of L.A. Volkov), he was invited to join the Maly Theatre’s company. Today Boris Vladimirovich is universally acknowledged as one of the leading actors within the company.
With his acting versatility, expressive countenance, temperament and powerful presence, Boris Vladimirovich managed to play a wide range of characters in numerous Maly Theatre’s productions. Among the roles that make up Boris Klyuev's creative baggage are Kudryash («The Storm» by A. Ostrovsky), Murov («Guilty Without Guilt» by A. Ostrovsky), Molchalin («Woe from Wit» by A. Griboedov), Lavr Mironovich («The Last Sacrifice» by A.Ostrovsky), Krutitskiy («Enough Stupidity in Every Wise Man» by A. Ostrovsky), the teacher of philosophy («The Bourgeois Gentleman» by Jean-Baptiste Molière), Prince Vasily Golitsyn («Dmitry the Pretender and Vasily Shuisky» by Alexander Ostrovsky), Arbenin («The Masquerade» by M. Lermontov), De Guiche («Cyrano de Bergerac» by Edmond Rostand), and many others.
Klyuev's athletic physique, height and refined facial features make him a classic «tail-coat» actor. As Boris Vladimirovich remarks, he is unlikely ever to portray a «kolkhoz chairman». This work was awarded with a «Star of the Theater-goer» in the category «The Ring of Saturn» for the best supporting performance.
Since 1969 (with breaks), Boris Vladimirovich has been teaching acting skills at his alma mater - Mikhail Shchepkin Higher Theatre School. Currently he is a professor, leader of the course and Head of the Department of Acting.

He starred in some of the most popular films and TV shows, including «D'Artagnan and Three Musketeers» (Compte de Rochefort), «The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson» (Mycroft Holmes), «Mikhailo Lomonosov» (Grigory Orlov), «The Life of Berlioz» (Wagner), «The Collapse of the Empire» (Shulgin), «TASS Is Authorized to Declare ...» (CIA agent Dubov – Trianon), etc.
Boris Klyuev is known for portraying a stern and grumpy head of the family Nikolai Petrovich Voronin in a popular TV series «The Voronins». His character is a madman and a domestic tyrant, but at the same time he is an exceptionally charming man. In 2012 Klyuev won the national prize TEFI in the Best Actor nomination for this role.
